    Automatic Update, error 0x80073712

    Hi.

    System details.
    Intel i5-7600K
    16GB RAM
    X64
    Windows 10 Pro
    Version 1803
    OS Build 17134.165
    HDD 465GB only 100GB used

I am having an issue with the automatic download of KB4462919. I keep getting the following error code returned, 0x80073712.

Both KB4100347 and KB4456655 downloaded automatically without any issues.

I have tried the following fixes.

    1) Stopped Windows update service and deleted the contents of Software Distribution Datastore and Downloads and then restarted Windows update service. No success.
    2) Run all CHKDSK routines, no issues/problems detected.
    3) Run the DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth routine. The following error was returned. 0x800f081F “Source files cannot be found”.
    4) Run sfc/Scannow. No issues/problems detected.
    5) Carried out a manual update from the Microsoft update catalogue. Still returns error code 0x80073712.
    6) Run update Troubleshooter. This returned “Potential Windows Update Database error detected”. It did not offer to fix this.

Are there any other fixes I can try?

    Thank you.

    Kind Regards.

    Roger.

Hi, some have had success with that error code as follows:

    a. You've already run the Windows Update Troubleshooter (e.g. Settings, search for Trouble )
    b. follow this:
Reset Windows Update in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

    That should address your error
“Potential Windows Update Database error detected”

    c. If the troubleshooter failed in (a) then run it again.
    d. If ok, try scanning for updates again.
