    1803 update fix

I just upgraded to 1809 but when I was using 1803 and Had that same problem I ran cleanmgr from the search box and selected system files checking the update files. Ran the program and then used the free Cclean program...that took care of the problem. Had to do this every time I got a cumulative update.

Back again... same issue over several days now. I haven't run the script yet, but have run update troubleshooter several times... and it finds the same problem every time... and fixes it (check for pending updates). And yet the fix never seems to fix it.

Next up I'll run that script and see if that makes a difference.....

Edit: after running the script and rebooting, I'm still seeing an update pending download. Guess I'll wait it out a few more days. This is really baffling....

I ran the update troubleshooter again and this time it found and fixed 3 issues. I'll reboot and check again for updates.

After several days with the same issue repeating itself, even after running the troubleshooter and 'fixing' things, I finally gave up, downloaded the update and manually installed it. I then rebooted the laptop, reran windows update, again saw the pending update message, ran the troubleshooter again and fixed pending updates. I rebooted, checked windows update again and this time it was clean.

I'll mark this as solved for now.... subject to the next round of updates.

It's being consistent now for the last several updates. Running Windows update gets me to the screen that says pending download for the update, but they never download. I can work around that by Googling the KB files referenced and manually download and install the updates. But I sure would like to figure out how/why my Win 10 installation no longer likes to download the files via Windows Update.

I've had a couple of updates that Windows update found, downloaded, and installed this week. So I'll mark it solved. Again. I hope it stays fixed!

Update (2018.11.27) Windows Update ran normally.

Well here I am again. After several months of no problem updates, I ran into an issue today. The update that fails to install is:
    KB4023057

Anyone else having an issue with this particular update?

Mine failed today (3 times) on this update. It's marked as 2018-11 and my system already had the update (KB4023057) installed as 2018-12 on 12/06/18. Uninstalling the KB in Programs and Features has not corrected the problem on my system. Thanks a bunch MS!

Update: Fourth auto WU check for updates got it correctly installed. Still don't understand why it tried to install 2018-11 version when the 2018-12 version was already installed. Update History still shows the three failed installation attempts of 2018-11 as well as the fourth successful one. Also still wondering if v1809 will show up in February since it didn't in January.
