Windows 10 Activation questions

Fixed, best guess is it was the

Logo"="C:\\windows\\ASUS\\ASUSLOGO.bmp line? I had forgot to copy over the ASUS folder with the logo in it. After I copied over the folder and rebooted the settings info page opens now. It doesn't show the logo anywhere on that page though? Control panel does though.
Usually this is all done on install via a $OEM$ folder on my install media. The last install on this PC was done with stock install media without the OEM info stuff.

At one time I had custom install media for each PC, OEM logo's and the OEM system info etc. Lately I just use the one thumb drive and can't be bothered with doing the custom stuff anymore. I'm the only one that see's it anyway lol.
I did a couple of those mods. ASUS had a tool / utility to do theirs. The novelty wore off and now its all stock BIOS.

I was just playing a hunch that it might get pulled from there, it isn't. I added in that info on this PC and it made no difference.
My two devices that actually show the model number are my two laptops with UEFI BIOS.
The ones that just say PC are my two desktops with legacy BIOS.

The replacement motherboard might be a refurb and was activated previously with 10 before it got refurbed. That would explain the auto-activation. Do you really think Dell or any other OEM is going to give you a "new" board on a warranty replacement.

It seems that using a Microsoft Account at the time was a good move. It enabled the digital license transfer to go through smoothly. Its making me wonder now..if for that reason alone..sticking to using a Microsoft Account might be advisable. It looks like if youre signed in with a Local Account and youre about to have a motherboard replaced..future activations would be affected. If I had been signed into my laptop with a Local Account at the time but I managed to switch the Local account to my Microsoft Account immediately before the engineer replaced the motherboard..would that still have enabled a smooth transfer of the Digital License? Or is that not the same thing as if Windows 10 had been clean installed and Activated using a Microsoft Account sign in?

For clarity.

If you login with an MS Account, the digital licence is tied to MS account enabling you to activate it in event of a hardware change as discussed.

HOWEVER - if you revert the account to a local account, the link is REMOVED!

If you want to keep the link AND use a local account, you have to create a second account and NOT touch the MS account.
