Yes, you may have to use a product code if you logged in with a local account right after the motherboard swap. That would be a new license.
If you log in with your Microsoft account you can use the activation trouble shooter to transfer the license.
Either way, once that motherboard gets a Digital License its doesn't matter after that what account you use. Switching accounts or account types won't deactivate it.

The reason Im asking you that is that I know when switch from Microsoft Account sign in to Local Account sign in the laptop is removed from your Microsoft Account online. Even though its removed is the Hardware ID and its link to your Digital license still valid if a future hardware change was needed..does it remember the details when you sign back into the Microsoft account?

The hardware ID is stored on the activation server, regardless or what account was in use when first activated. Or any further activation. The "linked too" is just an extra feature and not mandatory.

Nothings perfect. And I've personally never used it myself to try and transfer a license. I'm just going by the tutorials etc. And other posts saying it worked for them.

Yes it gets stored once you have the "Licence is linked to your Microsoft Account" thing in Settings. It does not show with local account as there is no way of knowing what's MSA it'slinked to...
