I would be very much interested in the results of that test (I think others too)!
I did the test last month. The result was mentioned in my post #64.

you just got new DL from scratch - just as well those old licences are still working
In 2015, I got a DL when my Windows 7 was upgraded to 10. Last month, after a motherboard change, the DL became invalid. Then, when I entered a valid Windows 7 key on "slui 3", I got a new DL, with which my Windows 10 was activated.

Is it correct to say the above?

As I have linked the DL to my MS account and then changed back to local and when I logged in again with MS account the link was there.
I'm not sure though as I have always been using a local account, changed to MS to link the DL and then back to local. if that did create a local account or changed the MS account as Martin says.
So please post back if and when you try it.

    Thanks bud!
Tried al sorts of stuff but was unable to transfer the licence.

It found the activated VM (last signed-in with the MSA) but gave me this...

.. both VM's are identical (version / MSA etc)

BTW changing to local does remove the link from MSA (anyway won't happen when I am CEO at MS, so hang in there )

    No prob. bud,

Just saying.. and I know I do complain a bit (but it's for the greater good, believe me) ...but it seems the more one digs the more crap surfaces... ? Not awe-inspiring or even acceptable from a major player... IMHO.

I've personally never used it myself to try and transfer a license. I'm just going by the tutorials etc. And other posts saying it worked for them.
Can anyone give the links to those "other posts"?

The tutorial is here, Use Activation Troubleshooter in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials I'd have to search for posts where it worked. I didn't book mark any of them, I just noted that some had posted success in some posts in various threads.

Has anyone actually managed to transfer a licence to new hardware? Just curious?

That is because the device it requires to get the DL is missing (there is no persistence when switching to local..it's stupid - but that's not the point)

The point is has anyone managed a transfer to completely new hardware...?
