    Non of my devices show that actual motherboard model number. Processor, graphics card and Ram are listed. System just says
    OSType64BitX64

    That at the top is the Device Name. Mine shows M4N68 as thats what I named this device. My motherboard model is M4N68T-M V2
    EDIT: Or maybe not? On some of mine it just says PC on my laptop it actually shows the model number, I think that what it is?

    Actually, the only device that actually lists the model number is my Wife's Acer.
    My two desktops just say PC under thier Name
    M4N68
    PC
    M2N68
    PC
    and my laptop just says
    K75DE
    K75DE
    The Acer I believe still has the factory OEM info in the registry and thats where I'm guesing this info is pulled from.

    I just ran "wmic baseboard get product,Manufacturer,version,serialnumber", and it showed "Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. H81M-DS2".
    I guess this information is on a Microsoft activation server.

    I just ran my OEM info reg file to add my Model number to the registry. It shows up as M4N68T-M V2 in control panel > System. Still doesn't show up online though? I have no idea where it gets that info from.

    I wonder if that is how MS ID's the devices though...HardwareID's are encrypted - one can change the name of the device but that should not affect DL?

    To see the info MS gets regarding HardwareID run LicensingDiag.ps1 with the -Show parameter

    I change device names all the time, from the gibberish you get on a clean install to what I want it called. Hasn't affected activation, nor should it.
    Looks like I brock something by running my OEM info reg file. If I go to settings > system > info, it won't launch, settings just closes. All other settings menus work OK though?
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation]
    "Model"="M4N68T-M V2"
    "Logo"="C:\\windows\\ASUS\\ASUSLOGO.bmp"
    "Manufacturer"="ASUSTeK Computer Inc."
    "SupportURL"="http://www.asus.com"

    Might have to go undo it?
