win 10 update 1809 errors

having twice tried to install 1809 update to find that it rolls back and then find error ox80070003 and installing the Microsoft software to repair the error, which it supposedly did.
I now find when I try to do the update once again that it says you are up to date, though windows build shows I still have Build 17134.rs4_release.180410-1804.
Any suggestions on what has gone wrong would be appreciated.

Hi, try updating manually.
Create an iso or bootable medium using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool.

Follow the basic guidelines commonly advised:
- disable/uninstall AV
- disconnect any unnecessary peripherals esp. wireless
- ensure you have enough spare and working free space on C: - 25Gb e.g. or more than the size of your Windows folder.

If you want to find out what happened you could analyse Windows Update logs.
A list of some log files:
C:\Windows\Panther
C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther
The panther logs are often hidden. Configure file explorer so that you can find the hidden files.
Locate these logs and post share links in the forum:
setuperr.log
setupact.log
setupapi.dev.log
Setupmem.dmp
BlueBox.log

$Windows.~bt\Sources\Rollback\setupmem.dmp
$Windows.~bt\Sources\Rollback*.evtx
$Windows.~bt\Sources\Rollback\setupapi\setupapi.dev.log

Trying to find out why it failed from the Windows update logs is not straightforward. Here are some guides.

if I use down load media creation for 1809 will I have to re-install all my other Programs ie office 2016, photoshop and lightroom ect. or will they still function? there seems to be a lot of problems with this update, should I wait for an update for 1809 or bite the bullet and go via the ISO.

There are problems with the Windows 10 iso build 1809 and the rollout of the build has been placed on hold until some of the problems are fixed.
The iso as of 10/6/2018 on the Microsoft website is no longer 1809 and is now 1803.
