2018-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 pending download

I clean installed Windows 10 when I got this laptop some months back. No issues. But I have a stuck pending download that won't clear. I've stopped and started the windows update service and BITS, I've cleaned the windows download folder and restarted the laptop, but still get this same error.

"2018-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4458469) pending download"

It bothers my OCD if I just ignore this. Is there a solution to the issue?

    Hello speedlever.

If you haven't already, you could see if resetting Windows Update below may sort this for you.

I tried that and after reboot, it said Windows was up to date on the restart. Then I checked for updates again and got this:

Are you able to manually download and install it instead? The link is below if needed.

Good question. I've never had to do a manual update to the best of my recollection. In that link, I see a caution about SSU stack updates before attempting a manual update.

I wonder if I leave this alone until the next update, will that likely fix this issue?

The KB4456655 SSU should already be installed since the KB4458469 update is available for you.

If you like, it won't hurt anything to try and manually install KB4458469. It will only either fail or successfully install.

That seems to have fixed the update issue. I ran windows update again after rebooting and it checks clear now. Interestingly, my update history is empty except for the update manually installed today. And yet if I choose remove updates, it presents me with a list of updates that goes backwards from 2018.09.11.

    Thanks for the help!

    Great news. You're most welcome.

Resetting Windows Update cleared the update history, but the uninstall updates list will remain.

Ok, well that explains the missing list of updates... which makes sense. Glad to know that and thanks again!
