Perform the in place upgrade repair first.
Then overnight perform the chkdsk /r /v.

    The RAM modules are mismatched.
Approximately when was the second module added?

There were BSOD earlier this year 6/18/2018.
Was the misbehaving driver identified at that time?

After the in place upgrade repair and chkdsk perform these steps:

    1) Make a backup image using Macrium
Macrium Software | Your Image is Everything
    2) Save the backup image to another drive
    3) Make a brand new restore point

    4) uninstall the Nvidia GPU driver using DDU (display driver uninstaller)
    5) re-install the Nvidia GPU driver from the HP website
    6) make sure that you check the clean install box and if available install the physx driver.

Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 17.0.8.2 (or newer version if available)
Display Driver Uninstaller: How to use - Windows 7 Help Forums
    NVIDIA
Download Display Driver Uninstaller - MajorGeeks

    7) Download a new copy of the chipset drivers:
HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop - 860-014 (ENERGY STAR) - Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support

    8) Download a new copy of the applicable Intel Rapid Storage Technology RST driver:
HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop - 860-014 (ENERGY STAR) - Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support
If it displays the option to repair then repair without replacement.

    9) Install this fix for Windows 10 if not yet installed:
Driver - HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop - 860-014 (ENERGY STAR) | HP® Customer Support

    10) Install the HP System event utility if not already installed:
Driver - HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop - 860-014 (ENERGY STAR) | HP® Customer Support

    11) There is a BIOS upgrade available from
    BIOS Version/Date AMI A0.57, 8/9/2017

    to
    A0.59 Rev.A

Driver - HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop - 860-014 (ENERGY STAR) | HP® Customer Support

    12) After the above steps perform Windows updates.

Hi Zbook. I'm on a different computer for right now. I had some errands to run so I left the system running the scan already. That was 3 hours ago. It is still showing 10 complete. So I guess I'll stop the scan and rerun it later. This way I can start working on the list you gave me. Be back shortly.

Just noticed your questions. The ram modules came as they are the day I bought the system. (Bestbuy) As for the BSOD from June, I had no idea that there was BSOD error at all. At least not that I remember. So I cannot say what the offending driver was.
    Update:
Alright, there appears to be no option to stop the disk scan unless I shut the system off. I get the feeling that this might be a bad idea. Should I let it run or just hit the power button to abort the scan?

Ok, first things first. That Macrium Backup software is not free so I won't be purchasing the package. I will make a backup but it won't do me any good after 30 days. Restarting to complete the install now.

Chkdsk: Windows has made corrections to the file system.

Macrium has a free and a pay version.
    Please use the free version.

The package I just installed is a 30 day trial. I just found the free version. Uninstalling the 30 day trial and downloading the free edition.

Ok, backup is completed. Now since I don't know how to use and I don't see an option in Macrium to create a restore point, I am going to do a Windows Restore Point. Let me know if I am missing something in Macrium.

Windows is used to create a restore point.
Macrium is used to create a backup image.
These are two methods to have backup options in case there is a problem with the operating system, registry, boot files, malware, etc.
An additional method would be to copy and paste the users folder. This method takes many hours.
