Is this a genuine number to Microsoft support? 0855990000 or is it some kind of scam?

From one of your earlier posts:

"I originally got the key from my friend I think, remember this was a long time ago! Think he had it over from school or something"

IMO, you are gonna go in circles unless you wipe the entire system drive crystal clear clean, and do a fresh clean install with the new purchased MS key.

Yeah - it is an issue but if somebody has installed Windows 10 (or other version) which used a volume licence key (legit or not), it is not simple to activate using a normal key.

Also, it is not clear if the OPs purchased key matches the installed version anyway.

OP - download showkeyplus from Store, and select check product key tab.

Then enter your key to check it.

Hide key by clicking on it and post image so we can advise further.

Contact where you bought it and explain. Get the right version. And that phone number you posted.....a Google search of it takes me here:

Basically you cannot (there are complicated ways that are flakey but do not go there). Simply clean install Home, use your new key.

Clean install the version your MS legit paid-for key matches. That was mentioned back a few posts and again now by Cereberus. You can get into a deep dark hole by trying to get around the current situation with tricks.

    Just wipe clean, start over.

    I posted about that

    Windows 10 can't be activated - Page 6 - Windows 10 Forums

other than that, it appears to be a legit MS support #. No I have not called it. Not going to. It would be very long distance for me.

The Google search comes up with this as first hit. It's not English.
