*Some settings are managed by your organisation

This appears in windows update on my own pc which has only one account mine as administrator. The usual reply by googling involves gpedt.msc and changing a few things but these aren't working any other suggestions?

If you are using anything to control Windows updates(even active hours), this message would appear.
I know it is badly worded but this is how it is.
The view configured update policies button should show why the message is appearing.

If you ever really need the Group Policy editor , to make changes and you are running the Home or other Auto everything versions of Windows, It can be added if your wish.

    Download Add GPEDIT.msc - MajorGeeks

The above link provides a copy of the program that although not usually present, will work on he lower versions - I have no issues with the source of the program but as always would advise that you back up everything before doin anything and scan all files downloaded just in case

    It says there:
    Policies set on your device:

Download the updates automatically and notify me when they are ready to be installed

    ...and...

    Set automatic update options

...are these not default settings then?

If you manually run Windows update, until no more updates are available, does it go away?

Firstly, some report that this appears, then disappears when an update has been completed.
    (as per @alphanumeric's post above)
Secondly, have you made any changes to affect Windows update by any means?
Thirdly, are you using Home or Pro?

    My present understanding is that
    view configured update policies
would only appear in Pro editions where the group policy editor is present.

"Firstly, some report that this appears, then disappears when an update has been completed." Exactly. Happened to me once so far. I had a reboot pending to finish updating, near as I can figure anyway. Keep forgetting to go have a look see on patch Tuesday to see if the some setting message is there again.

I get that warning because I:
Exclude drivers from Windows quality updates
    Source: Administrator
    Type: Group Policy
