My recent experience with the message 'Some Settings are Managed by Your Organization' appearing on the WU screen after updating, the simple fix is check for updates again and the message disappears.

I can't remember where I saw this, but it works for me on my desktop with W10 Home, and 3 laptops with Pro, all are 1803, build 17134.228.

The message can occur for may settings, not just those associated with Win Update. It's just that more people tend to experience/notice it in that context.

Where else would you see it? This is simply out of curiosity not important.

Any change in the registry that could be made by the Group Policy editor that MS has decided to flag using that message.

Like @dalchina mentioned - in different Settings pages where certain settings have been changed using Group Policy editor or through registry tweaks. Also displayed when certain settings are changed using the Settings app itself as in the case of setting Active Hours or Excluding drivers from Quality updates (as pointed out by Ed) for Windows Update.

Ahhh okay that is what I was guessing thank you for showing me what it looks like. I checked both Diagnostics & feedback and Your Phone and did not have the message there. So I am guessing it does not appear globally but only if there are registry/group editor changes to settings relating to Diagnostics & feedback or whichever applicable setting.

Again I only get this message for cumulative Windows Updates. In fact I think it does not appear until it finished and gets to the "Restart Now" dialogue. My concern over it has pretty much abated; now it is more just curiosity on how it works/why it was appearing.

Yes, It's just hinting that it needs to restart the system in order to complete the update but cannot do so automatically right now since there is an Active Hours policy that has been set on the machine. The generic message simply causes a great deal of confusion among the unaware. Also, like @CmmTch mentions, you can get rid of it after a restart by checking for updates again.

Thank you. Yes, it goes away and I regularly check for updates. Okay so active hours is a policy, and it is set, so that triggers the message. That helps explain why earlier in the thread that was advised as a solution. I'm going to disable them just to see if the message goes away or if since it was a policy change it stays.

It really is not a big deal. At first it was a concern I was wondering why I'm not the admin but I am the admin or there was a home network issue. Then I learned about it, group editor, Home v Pro, etc. and now I'm more comfortable with it.

    Thanks everyone for the education.
