How can I prevent the update when it says "Your update is ready"?
I had been using the following setting to prevent auto-updates.
Stop Windows 10 Updates Properly and Completely
Yesterday, when I was still using version 1709, I manually installed a critical update via Windows Update MiniTool. I had no idea what update it was. After a while, Windows 10 Update Assistant popped up, saying that "Your update is ready. Your PC needs to restart to complete the update". I immediately uninstalled Update Assistant.
Today, when I started my PC, the update was installed automatically. When it was complete, I ran "winver", and it said "Version 1803".
Is there a way to prevent updating to the latest version when Update Assistant shows the above message?

I have just uninstalled Windows 10 Update Assistant again. I hope it will not come back again.
The "UpdateAssistant" task in Task Scheduler cannot be disabled. It said "The user account you are operating under does not have permission to disable this task".

Microsoft is so frikkin horrible. They are forcing updates on us! I am honestly tempting to revert back to Windows 7 so i can disable updates and Windows Defender in services.msc. . .

You have Pro, so do you not have
- updates set to Notify (= nothing until you approve it)
- feature updates deferred (for up to 365 days)
And do you have Active Hours set in Settings?
You can disable Defender, but not like that.

I think the metered connection on my Home Edition can permanently prevent a feature update as long as Update Assistant does not come back.
