    "Pending download" problem!

Hello guys, lately, all out of sudden, I am unable to update my Windows (17723.1000) to 17730.1000 (rs5_release) Insider Preview as well as receive definition update for Windows Defender because of the "Pending download" status. I have tried deleting temporary files as well as using Windows Repair from Tweaking.com but nothing seems to help. What could be the possible solution?

    Thank you in advance!

    hi dedq.

Did you try resetting Windows update? I know Brink keeps tutorial up to date but I'm not sure how far out into the Insider stream he goes.

I've got the same problem on my Fast Ring test machine (Dell XPS 2720), and it doesn't even work on an install from the ISO obtained via UUPDump and UUPtoISO. Something odd going on here. Working toward a clean install on that test machine to see what happens then. Sigh.

Thank you for you suggestion, I was sincerely hoping it will fix it but no luck. This starts getting frustrating. I have no idea what else to try except wait for another Windows build and, after downloading it manually, installing it.

There is a way to get Insiders Preview using these third parties?

Thank you! I have managed to download and install latest Insiders Preview but even though I ran through the installation process, I am still stuck on the old Insiders Build in "About" tab. Whenever I enter Windows Update, I am still downloading the latest Insiders Build! I am still going thorough installation process again and again when restarting the system but I am still stuck on the old one.

Just a follow-up note: I was able to build an ISO based installer from Build 17728 (17730 has "retrieval issues" from UUPDump) and do a clean install yesterday on my problem Dell XPS 2720 All-in-One. I'd been stuck at 17723 for over a week, unable to upgrade to either 17728 or 17730. The updates would download and process until the first boot. After that, the PC would restart as if an upgrade wasn't pending, and the "Restart needed" status would show in Windows Update unchanged. Any number of subsequent restarts made no difference. Same problem for both 17728 and 17730 through Windows Update and WUMT. An ISO based upgrade install attempt for 17728 also ended with this singularly uninformative error message "Windows 10 installation has failed." That's why I ultimately turned to a clean install: it's kind of a drastic solution, but it does work -- for me, at least.

The problem seems to have fixed itself this morning. I have gone through downloading and installation process once again and, after restarting, I got the latest Insiders Preview. Thanks everyone!
