Belarc Advisor Definitions?

Belarc is not for regular checking if a system is up to date. If there are KB's not installed on a system, that means that the update manager did not see a reason to do so or removed older KB's that are no longer valid or needed. Belarc is just a tool that has become outdated.

Agree, that Belarc is not for checking, if system is updated. MS Updater is good enough for that in the last years. Secunia PSI was the best for this and they retired the app.

But Belarc still has its advantages. Making a system snapshot with network connections and installed programs with codes... Still in my bag of necessary utilities.

If you a re referring to security updates, there was Secunia PSI, but sadly, one company bought it years ago and shut down last year...
A new service (and utility) is starting, designed to be similar to that, but it's in technical preview stage:

I have no idea how far they are, but idea is to check for all security vulnerabilities and updates.

I just clicked on this thread and I'm glad that I did. I haven't used Belarc Advisor in years....grabbing it now. Just want to see, what if anything has changed.

I agree with Andre Ten....it's a great source to tell you what software and PK's that a system has installed on it.


OK...it's installed and open.....I see that the "Security Benchmark Score" is still for 7 and below. Other than that, my system is up to date according to the software.

Nope. Just that some of the KB's have rolled into them other KB stuff and that is why Update Manager does not see a need to install something that is not needed. Just let the system manage what it needs, otherwise you will break it.
