10 April 2018 Update 1803 stopcode: 0x8000ffff really want to update

    Hey guys,

I'm back after a week. Last week I updated my pc to this update which ended up being a total nightmare.

In any case now I wish to do the same thing for my windows 10 laptop. However like my pc it isn't able to update to this patch. Also got no comodo installed so that can't screw me up this time.

On my pc I had to wait till this month for an update that was released in march.

Was wondering if there is anything I can do to already get this update to install on my laptop?

Maybe this would help? Reset Windows update in Windows 10 and earlier versions of Windows - Your Windows Guide

    Regards,
    Matt

    Let me know guys!

Hi this upgrade tutorial (ignore the exact name) gives simple practical advice and also links to how to deal with problems encountered when upgrading. When you follow the links, you will find more- and more.

Upgrade to Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

From disconnecting unnecessary peripherals to inspecting log files.

    Basics:
    Check your disk
    Run chkdsk
    Run SFC /SCANNOW
Make sure results are 100% good.

Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter and report result.

    Disconnect any unnecessary peripherals
    Do a clean boot
Uninstall any 3rd party security programs
Make sure you have more than 20Gb free space on C:

You can download the iso so as to attempt the upgrade manually, and reattempt it without re-downloading it.

Try the upgrade without the internet connected.

Full Fix: Update error 0x8000ffff on Windows 10, 8.1, 7
    Note e.g. solutions 5, 7

Post a screenshot of your partitions using Minitool Partition Wizard. (Use the Insert image icon above your post).

I see, so I probably can't do the update on my laptop? Seeing as I don't have enough space:

That would be one reason... assuming we are indeed talking about a Windows build upgrade to build 1803, then a copy of your Windows folder is created (Window.old) retained for the 10 days you have to optionally return to your previous build.

    Plus working space.

Consider extending the partition, running Disk Cleanup, not using hibernation, running ccleaner, moving personal files off C: (highly recommended)..... there's a tutorial and a thread on cleaning up and saving space.
