How do you disable driver updates?

But you can - and it's preferable- disable just a particular one by hiding it.

maybe OP didn't run regedit.exe with admin rights (or perhaps a "critical" driver update slipped through)

just use windows update minitool instead to disable/hide any driver updates - tested on my custom built PC using Win10 RS4 (1803)
