Fitzy, OldMike is right on. The Windows Restore Point option is, at best, flaky. It does not really restore the entire system back to a previous state, mainly the registry and system settings and attempts to uninstall/reinstall any user apps it finds needs it. Only a full system image restore, all of it, can ensure you are back to a known previous state. If you made a system image backup using the old Windows 7 Backup and Restore, that could be attempted.

Failing that option, a Repair Install is your next best option. It will NOT destroy or delete any of your data or programs. It only rewrites the system files and settings. And OldMike's suggestion to get Macrium and use it is very wise, indeed.

I just read back on your first post. The "latest updates" I took for the Patch Tuesday updates from 3 days ago. Seems you mean the 1803 Feature Update, Spring Creators Update. Just verify, please. Hold the Windows Key, press R, type WINVER, press enter. Post the version you are on, please.

Either both machines are incompatible somehow with 1803, unlikely

    or

the graphics drivers on both machines are incompatible, or broken.. also unlikely for both

    or

whatever you upgraded from (version) on both left some bad data, on both, and the Feature Update (1803) cannot deal with it.

Do you recall what version you were on, both, prior to 1803?

When I updated recently, it changed my default scaling from 125% to 100%.

Just to rule this out....reset the graphics card

    Key sequence is: Win+Ctrl+Shift+B

hold the first three and hit B

Also, earlier this morning around 8am, I asked if you could post some settings.
