    Windows 10 July 6 update?

My computer is currently under seige. It's been frozen for over an hour. I can hear the engine churning. I suspect there is a sizable update hogging my space? I forget what build I'm on. Can't keep track. I have an ASUS ModelQ524U....that is all I can find about computer at moment.

If it is an update, is there a way to get email notices from Microsoft as to when exactly they are going to happen? I was told once they're every 2nd Tuesday of the month....or as needed. The "as needed" would be nice to be informed about before hand.

If you have a Windows Insider installation in the Fast ring or Skip Ahead, then there was a new build 17711 released today.

I was reading about that, but I didn't sign up so don't believe that's what's up.

This all began after I finished loading photos onto my computrer from my phone and then opened one to view. The screen froze on that pic and would not respond to anything I attempted. The mouse was able to move the prompt but without response. The touch feature was not even in operation. I hit control/alt/delete and nothing happened. When this sort of situation has occurred in the past and I tried to force quit, it just prolonged whatever was going on. So, my experience has been to just wait.

Well, after letting computer be all night and still no change this a.m., I pushed the power button off and it shut down instantly. And when I turned it back on it rebooted as if nothing ever happened. This is a new one on me. Since having Windows 10, anytime my computer has frozen, it's been a Windows 10 issue with back up. This particular cas was just some random freak occurrence. Sheesh.

It sounds like you may have had a hung/frozen app that caused this.

You could check your reliability history to see if anything may stand out for when this happened.

Thanks, Brink. It was the video app that was used to open the "live" photo. Report says it, and a few other things, stopped responding. I opened the picture just now to see if I could, and it opened without a hitch.

Good news. Hopefully it was just a one time glitch.
