Is There Going To Be A Problem Running 2 Many Windows Update Stoppers?

I'm looking at WUMT Wrapper Script 2.4.1, Windows Update Blocker v1.1 and Win Update Stop : ) I'm thinking of installing them all though I am confident someone will tell me that this is unnecessary and perhaps could even make the system unstable. I am currently leaning towards WUMT Wrapper Script 2.4.1 though I am intrigued by Windows Update Blocker v1.1 as well as Win Update Stop though I believe Win Update Stop messes with the registry. Do the other two as well? TIA.

You don't need dodgy blocker programs see this tutorial. Enable or Disable Windows Update Automatic Updates in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

Right. I have seen and read only parts of that 59 page thread. My understanding is that MS since the thread was started in 2015 and through the beginning of this year (I know I was unceremoniously dumped from 1703 to 1709 against my wishes even with the necessary precautions taken) has just about taken over with abandon forcing updates on users even with Win 10 Pro thus I wanted to try some of the newer applications that allegedly state that they block windows updates. Maybe someone else will chime in whether or not I am on the right track.

I use WUMT Wrapper Script but you'd need to run configurator.cmd if updating store apps or manually installing an update.

I have needed to manually install some cumulative updates instead of letting WUMT Wrapper Script handle it.

Suggest reading through entire thread here:

    Copy that.

Right. I actually had this loaded up and ready to run this morning. I was going to go with the portable version rather then the installer. Which one do you use.

I then read the TLDR read me which I am going to quote here and I became concerned about some of the instructions/ caveats. which left me confused. I have put them in bold. I will look at the link you provided above. Is this really as simple as installing and then following the on screen instructions?

WUMT Wrapper Script readme 2.4.1This script allows fully manual updates with Windows 10 including Home.Project page:https://forums.mydigitallife.net/thr...service.72203/;tldr The WUMT Wrapper Script as-is provides manual updating. Use the Configurator in the scriptif you want to use the Store all the time, leaving the Windows Update Service running all the time.It gives you the option to reverse your changes too. Just run the script again. Don't change anysettings in lower left of WUMT while running the script. The wrapper script causes sfc errors, so if you want to run sfc, uninstall the script first or readthe logs for errors with osrss.dll, UsoClient.exe, WaaSMedic.exe, WaasMedicSvc.dll, WaaSMedicPS.dll,WaaSAssessment.dll, MusNotificationUx.exe, and SIHClient.exe which is normal. This command willshow if the above files are the problem: "findstr /c:"[SR] Cannot" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log|more".Uninstaller in start menu or "Uninstaller.cmd" in script folder is the only wayto completely uninstall the script. How it works: The script first checks if the OS is older than wWindows 10 and if soit bypasses the Windows 10 Update Hijacker disable portion of the script. This script creates a smart Windows Defender Update task "WUD" that updates WindowsDefender if it's running and enabled, and doesn't update it if it's not running and disabled,auto-elevates, uninstalls and removes the Windows 10 Update Assistant, renames the%programfiles%\rempl* folder,

    Is that cool?

resets and removes permissions from and disables theseUpdate Hijackers:remsh.exe*osrss.dllUsoClient.exeWaaSMedic.exeWaasMedicSvc.dllWaaSMedicPS.dllWaaSAssessment .dllMusNotificationUx.exeSIHClient.exe

makes sure the task "wub_task" is installed that runs wub at boot (to stop updates from turningupdates back on)

    Huh?

, runs wub.exe and enables and starts the windows update service (wuauserv) ifdisabled (*wub can be disabled using the included Configurator.cmd script, leaving Windows Updatesalways running so you can use Store and Defender at any time), then runs the correct version ofthe Windows Update MiniTool in "auto search for updates" mode for your OS version's architecture(x86 or x64), then disables and stops wuauserv giving you full control. No more forced automaticupdates or surprise reboots. This was written for Windows 10 Pro and Home, but works with allversions of Windows 10. Don't change any settings in lower left of WUMT while running the script.I also included an uninstaller.cmd that deletes the WDU and wub_task tasks, deletes the WDU.cmdfile used by WDU task, restores the rempl folder, resets Update Hijacker permissions to how theywere originally, and turns off wub (if enabled) which turns the windows update service on automaticagain, undoing everything done by the script. If you uninstall after having used the installer thescript folder is removed also.Configurator in script leaves the Update Hijackers disabled, but gives you the option of turning onthe windows update service temporarily to use Store, or leave it on permanently to use Store anytime.Installation:*Installer:Run WUMTWrapperScript.exe. Menu shortcuts in the start menu can be optionally not installed. Thereis no uninstall in control panel. Only uninstall from the shortcut in the start menu or usingUninstaller.cmd in the WUMT Wrapper Script folder.*Portable:Extract the contents of the portable folder to a folder of your choosing, then makea shortcut to the file "WUMTWrapperScript.cmd", and Uninstaller.cmd.Rename the "WUMTWrapperScript.cmd" shortcut to "Windows Update". Now use this shortcut to runmanual Windows Updates. Use the Configurator in script to enable using Store any time.WUMT is available here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/thr...iniToolWindows Update Blocker v1.0 is available here: Dropbox - wub.exe use Windows Update Blocker v1.0 with this script, not v1.1.

I believe that it stops update notifications and prevents automatic upgrades to new versions of windows 10.

WUB = Windows Update Blocker task

    The script incorporates this software:

    Windows Update Blocker v1.1

If you have questions you can ask the author of the script in this thread:

Stop Windows 10 Updates Properly and Completely Solved - Page 2 - Windows 10 Forums

When running the script it will show available updates and you choose which ones to install but you still need research available updates to avoid those that reinstall windows upgrade assistant. I just hide those using the program.

    See hidden updates:

Those updates either install windows upgrade assistant and auto download a new version of windows 10 or else prompt the user via notifications to upgrade.

Q: Is there going to be a problem?
    A:Yes

    Q:Why
A:Because you are not up to date and creating a Security Risk

Q:Can I stop build upgrades but still get security updates
A:Yes, by installing Windows in a virtual hard drive which cannot be upgraded on a host pc.

    Q:That solves my issue then?
A: No, only whilst support for your build continues. Each build has 18 month life support.

Q:So to remain secure, I have to upgrade when support for my build ceases.
    A:Yes.
