    Undoing Windows 10 update

I've really had it with windows 10 automated updates.

I have Windows 10 home installed on a laptop. Despite having very fast internet access (FIOS 100) whenever these updates download or install the laptop (i8, 8GB ram) goes into a crawl and I can do no work until the update is finished. I just received the April 2018 update and now the laptop takes forever to wake up or display anything when I open the laptop. And who knows what else they screwed up.

    My questions:
    1. How do I un-update this update? I have image backups from about a month ago but is that the best way to reverse this update?

    2. Windows totally ignores my setting about my working hours. Updates continue to download whenever and take hours to download. I read that if I set my internet wifi connection to "metered" that prevents these automated updates. But, that will only delay the problem because I may want to accept some "security" updates - but when it is convenient for me to do so and without them putting my use of the laptop to a crawl!

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I am ready to keep my wifi conection permanently metered and forgo any updates.

The problem is you can role it back and when you do the first thing it will do is start downloading it again. The best way forward is to fix the problems as the updates make it more secure. Check for updates as there should be more which may solve any pronlems you have

    Thank you for replying.
If I set my wifi connection as metered before undoing the update, would that not prevent the repeat download?

Thank you Samuria. Microsoft is doing its best to make its users hate them.
I wonder what it costs to upgrade to 10pro. But then I wonder since MS ignores metered WiFi settings in home whether it will continue to honor whatever update controls exist in Pro.

Nothing is ever free. You pay for it one way or the other. I prefer to pay with money rather than loss of control and choose what I want to acquire.

I use a little program called Windows Update Blocker. I have Windows Update blocked most of the time but when I'm in the mood or have free time, I enable it and install the updates. After the updates are finished, I disable them again.
