How to prevent 1803 forever?

one of the authors was reluctant to post the name "Windows Update Blocker" in the above thread and was kind enough to PM me privately with the name however Windows Update Blocker appears numerous times in this forum so since I have run into a problem with it I am taking the liberty of naming it in order to ask my question. I'll delete this post if anyone does not want that app named.

So I ran it this morning and Bitdefender promptly nuked it. In the same thread above another poster mentioned using "netsh winhttp set proxy 0.0.0.0:8888" to block updates and I am wondering if anyone uses this method and if so without incident and does it work. TIA.
