    Cumulative Updates And System Protection

Following Cumulative Updates I always check that System Protection is On for both (OS) (C:) (System) and Image. The last Windows Restore Point is 06/12/2018. With the last two Cumulative Updates my Desktop Machine has not made a Restore Point before or after the Update. It's easy enough to manually creat a point, but I'd like to have the system function properly as it has in the past. How do I fix this one?

Thank you for looking, and your help is appreciated.

I would suggest using a daily scheduled restore point. There's a tutorial which can help you there.

You'll probably know that restore points are terribly reliable - especially when it comes to restoring.

Thanks for the response. It is appreciated. Yeah, I never had the experience, but have read enough on here to know that it can be a leaky lifeboat. However it's one more opportunity to save myself from a disaster it need be. Sometimes I can be like the guy that wears Suspenders AND a Belt.

The Macrium Reflect Free. Don't like it, but that's just me. I also maintain ALL my data on a 2TB Western Digital External Drive. That I can take anywhere and plug into a USB Port and get off whatever I may need.

The GUI is somewhat obscure, unfortunately, and could do with a huge revision esp. for new users. Functionally great.

I agree with you there. The "new user" has to figure out some of this in a trial & error process. LOL, my last system was XP Pro and it died 4 years ago. I bought this machine a year and a half ago with Win 10. LOL, I still don't fully understand Image and OS C: System!

Do have to say though, I've liked Win 10 from the initial boot up. Even at 72, I still enjoy learning something new that's useful and makes my life a little easier.

One thing MR does to help- maybe the others do- is if you click
    Backup, Backup Windows
when configuring your first base image is to select all partitions Windows needs.

The second icon on the main screen under Backup Tasks does exactly that, making it a 'no-brainer' as the colloquial saying goes.

The extensive help is handy, + basic tutorials on MR here and on their site.

Navigating to start a differential backup is what fooled me. Aomei B. is so much easier.

Wondered if they were the same thing.
