    Updating from 1703 to 1709

I'm on 1703 with a 365 day deferral. I want to try a manual update to 1709 so I can experiment with getting comfortable with it before the 1703 October 9 eol, but the only resources I can find is for 1803.

You can get links to download a 1709 iso direct from Microsoft using this tool from HeiDoc.

Make image backup of 1703, then install 1803 - it is rather pointless going to 1709 if 1803 works fine. If it does not, then restore 1703 and try 1709 at that point.

Thanks. I was wondering if it was possible to get a Zero Day Package (ZDP) for both 1709 qnd 2803

That makes sense, but my intention was to possibly do both. I already have several 1703 Macrium backups. What is your experience with 1803. Have they addressed the problems it had when first released?

I've had major problems with every feature update since the anniversary update, so I'm very cautious. I want to give myself plenty of time to get adjusted.

Your link is specifically for the original RTM 10240 release, but the same should be possible for any version. From your link...
Note, the ZDP is a cumulative update, so you'll only need to get the latest update package.
...so your ZDP would be the latest cumulative update. It's not something I've tried, but this tutorial should explain the process. Note that you need to start with media that has an install.wim, not an install.esd as created by the Media Creation Tool. The ISOs that you can download with HeiDoc will be install.wim media.

Mine has been relatively untroubled, but apparently others have been less fortunate. I did have a rare BSOD initially, but that has stopped since the update for 17134.81. I still see some errors in Reliability History though, but none that seem to impact my use.

You are right to be cautious. The next CU for 1803 is due out next Tuesday, I'd wait at least until then before deciding to take the plunge.
