Thanks dalchina & EdTittel. I'm just going to leave them alone. I still see my original pictures I use to distinguish which account is which, just not in any folder on my computer, they only show when booting/rebooting & on my Start Menu.
It's just strange how Microsoft feels they have the right to go into OUR computers & change whatever they want. I know we don't OWN the OS we've bought (which is sooooo strange in itself) but I still find what they do intrusive.

I guess you could say that 'Windows as a service' means MS 'services' our PC's - especially on the 6 monthly upgrade. One benefit of that is the restoration of basic aspects of the OS to default- certain registry settings, services... the benefit of that is that sometimes problems get fixed. An inevitable downside is that some hacks get overwritten (which was always the case even in Win 7, say, if resource changes in dll's were reset by the dll being replaced in an update or service pack).

What MS doesn't do (intentionally) is affect your personal data.

The problem is that the OS files, registry are still accessible to users. If there were a more robust model, that would not be true and we wouldn't be having this discussion, and forums like this would be far less active. Ideally!
