Should I install again Windows KB4056892 on Win 10 April 2018 Update?

Hello,

Do I have to install again KB4056892 in my Windows 10 April 2018 Update latest build, after a clean install?

KB4056892 is the original Sceptre/Meltdown patch for WINDOWS 10

Hello Came, :)

I would only install any available updates from Windows Update, and not worry about the rest.

That was the January cumulative update for 1709. The patches it contained will have already been written into 1803.

Sorry to ask in this forum about Windows 7, but what about KB4056894

KB4056894 x64 is the original Buggy Sceptre/Meltdown patch for Windows 7 - 1/9/2018

2018-01 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4056894)

Is this patch contained in the last May patch Tuesday or there is a new one?

Windows 7 updates have adopted the Windows 10 pattern. The 'Monthly Quality Rollup' is the Win7 equivalent of a Windows 10 cumulative update. The latest one includes the previous patches.

... Installing the most recent update means you get all of the previous updates, as well, including important security fixes.

only Win7 updates released from October 2016 til the present are using the "cumulative" update format similar to Win10. older Win7 updates made before October 2016 were not cumulative nor included in the newer updates.

That's where KB3125574, the 'Convenience rollup update for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1' comes in handy...

This rollup package includes most updates that were released after the release of SP1 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, through April 2016. This convenience rollup is intended to make it easy to integrate fixes that were released after SP1 for Windows 7...

It's effectively the long-overdue 'SP2'. Install it, do a Disk Clean-up of System files and windows update no longer takes half an hour to check for updates. Then you just need the latest monthly rollup.

PS: I have a third laptop not in my specs (well, it is, but at SevenForums). It was so old that it's Factory Reset image predated SP1. So after a reset SP1 + KB3125574 + latest monthly rollup was all it needed.

Edit: It was in May 2016 that MS went over to the 'Win10 style' Monthly rollup format, both for 7 and 8.1. More on that here:

If yes, I don't have an idea when to install it, I am going to perform a Windows 7 SP1 x64 clean install today, So I am very confused as always

yes. The point of KB3125574 is to save you the bother of having hundreds of individual updates being installed by windows update. Instead you get them all in one easily installed package. It is basically all the updates after SP1 up to the switchover to a monthly roll up.

you may need to install a service stack first. See the kB article for the prerequisites. Once installed, run a disk clean up of system files and clean up update backups. You will then be ready to check for updates in windows update.
