How can I delay the upgrade to Windows 1803

    I have Windows 10 Pro.

I would like to delay the upgrade to Windows 10, version 1803. However, I want to update other programs, like Windows Defender & Adobe Reader. Right now, when I go to Settings > Update & Security, the only option I get is to download all of them (which also means they will install).

Is there a way to delay just the Windows upgrade? I'm willing to make registry changes to prevent the upgrade & undo them later.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Go into Settings>Update & Security>Advanced Options and choose to Defer Feature updates for up to 365 days :)

It will not affect Defender or Adobe.

Thank you for your quick reply. I did that, but they had already appeared on my update page. I'm not sure my images are saved.

You may have to get the updates manually after if WU doesn't work properly or takes too long. MS Catalog is the best option. Just come here and read for the latest KB file(s) in main page (weekly or semi-monthly or monthly).

Powershell in admin mode will stop MCT:

    Code:
    reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX\Settings" /v "HideMCTLink" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f
    All the best,

Thank you for your quick reply. I still have 3 questions, please:
    1) Is MCT the Media Creation Tool?
    2) If I run that code in Powershell (as admin), will that still allow me to update Windows Defender, Adobe, etc.?
    3) Is there another code I can run, say, in a month that will restore WU? or can I just delete the reg key to restore the Media Creation Tool?

    Thank you again!

I see where it says "some settings are managed by your organization" is this a work pc lent to you by your employer ?

If so, then let them deal with it, it`s not your problem :)

Yes, MCT means Media Creation Tool

I don`t see where it`s gonna update you to 1803 anywhere.

No, this is my PC. I went into the registry previously under Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Update & Enabled "Configure Automatic Updates". Also, I recently had updates delayed by 30 days, but I had to restore from a backup made before I configured that. After I restored, I started updating other programs & didn't try to delay the WU until it was already set to download.

What I really want to do is prevent the update to 1803 from downloading, but allow other programs to update.

Thanks again. I appreciate your time & support!

P.S. I just saw your reply where you said you didn't see where it would update me to 1803. I thought that in the picture I posted above, that the April - 2018 update was for 1803. Have I been worrying about something that didn't exist?
