    another 1803 issue - windows 10 update 0x80246019

got my internet choked off by another damn update, calling itself feature update to 1803. 2.5 hrs later it installed, got to about 90+% then came up w/ the above fail. when i looked at the installed update list/history, it said the fail was 0x80240034, which seems to be a failed download? anyways, i clicked retry, and now it's doing cumulative update 1709, KB4103727 :-/ no sign of the 1803 stuff.....what's going on?

Similar problem here with slightly different error, which refers to MS thinking my PC is using a proxy server or VPN to connect to MS servers, which has the MS server deny the request eventually during the download process.

Mine would actually get to a certain % (say 72%) then if you turned off the PC and then turned it on again it would then show 61% downloaded??? Weird. My PC actually did get to 100% download but never stopped that process and was stuck continually trying to download the update...very odd!

I have plenty of room on my HDD, a clean system, and it's compatible. Same as your result after failing
1803 almost 15 times in 4 days, it pushed the May 2018 cumulative update for the 1709 version I already have.

    That downloaded and installed perfectly...

I will say that each progressive feature update seems to download slower than the last , but this time
it failed to even complete at all. Seems like 1803 STILL isn't ready for prime time but MS offered it up anyway..

MS keeps driving more and more users away from Windows, eventually they will destroy their own product.

I'm fairly computer savvy and if I'm having major issues just think what non-power users will experience....
Honestly the CEO of MS needs to be sent packing ASAP...

well, finally got it done. did the download above, then said it was doing the 1803 stuff. it did some very quick download, which made me think it had stored the previous attempt in a temp file or something, then fooled me by restarting the entire thing again. ended up completing the install at 12:30AM.
this update thing is extremely irritating, seems totally inefficient and unfriendly. set-up screen asked if i wanted to do voice recognition etc - well i don't, so why not ask that at the start and save some download time? ditto the damn passive-aggressive-seeming "options": tick yes if you want targetted apps, no means you get untargetted app. ffs, really?
fully agree w/ Legacy's comments, why they went from the "here's some available updates, tick what you want" and then go get them w/out choking off your entire bandwidth, i don't know, but i'm slowly growing to hate Win10.

Glad to hear that 1803 actually downloaded correctly and installed properly too.

It's especially painful if you have slow internet service like I do...I literally have to put the PC out of commission for almost a day before it completes these outrageously huge updates. Then you have nonsense of updates you wait for to download for that amount of time and they still fail, so now I spend TWO days or many days like I just did trying to get things up to date. MS is slowly destroying their user base for WIndows 10 and maybe driving them away forever...Why is this idiot Satya Narayana Nadella still the CEO of MS at this point? He needs to be FIRED immediately,. It's clear that Windows 10 is a near disaster, the company (and this CEO) is deaf to customer complaints and comments overall, and it has to be costing the company money. I used to think Steve Ballmer was bad, but this current CEO is the worst thing that happened to MS possibly in its entire history.

I wish MS would hire Paul Allen as an interim CEO until they can find someone that will understand that Redmond needs to revisit it's early days to realize what made MS Windows the choice of most users ......
they did listen and respond to customer needs and complaints.

I think Satya has made it pretty clear in his public interviews that his vision for MS does not include Windows on a PC as a high priority, nor future big revenue generator. Sort of like the guy that thought Windows Phone was the future.

All the more reason why the BoD and shareholders need to fire this guy ASAP. If nothing else even IF he believes that Windows on PC isn't the "future" the disgraceful and continually buggered handling of the OS is
    tarnishing the Microsoft name.

If anything why not just spin Windows PC OS off as a separate company/ sell that division, so that it can get the focus and attention it needs and MS can make some money off that sale.
