To add, the Volume reference could be the same as the Enterprise version, usually intended for companies that purchase a large number of licenses. Companies/Enterprises were allowed to assign such computers to employees for use off-premises.
While Enterprise can normally only be Volume Licence activated, other Editions of Windows 10 can be VL or Retail or OEM licenced. Pro can be VL activated as the OP's is or was. Enterprise, Pro and Education can be VL activated. I think in most cases, unless your the IT guy or in the IT department, you'd likely be given Pro not Enterprise. More often than not there would be group policy restrictions so no point in using Enterprise and then crippling it. My guess is the Pro license is also probably cheaper.
What can happen is company X goes out of business and the assets are sold off. Those devices are supposed to be wiped of any corporate installs, especially VL installs. But if the guy that normally does this is looking for a new job, it sometimes doesn't get done. I personally wouldn't be in any hurry to do it unless I was going to be paid for the time and trouble.
Other scenarios are inept tech support that don't have a clue what they're doing. Of straight out fraud by the seller.

Very likely the partition ID doesn't match any more. Just a swag.....
Yep! I have done a lot of modifications on laptops to partitions and restoring from the recovery partition has always worked after I've restored the original partition scheme.

Either way...OP has full HDD image backup and it can be restored to it's original glory, so there is no danger in experimenting a bit. And as mentioned earlier, that recovery partition is old already so in the end it's pretty much useless.

I have 3 HP computers I can put back to Win7 when/if desired simply because I made the factory restore discs before doing the Upgrades to Win10. HP and most OEMs include a program for creating those discs, usually can make the discs only once.
