I got KB 4023057 on Nov 15 and today I got it again. Per MS information this KB was upgraded today (Dec 06) and looking in Program and Features it updated from ver 2.51.0.0 to ver 2.52.0.0.
This KB is to improve the Windows Update process.

Why it shows in Program and Features I do not know.

Thanks for the link. Reading the description causes some anxiety:

    • This update may try to reset network settings if problems are detected, and it will clean up registry keys that may be preventing updates from being installed successfully.
    • This update may reset the Windows Update database to repair the problems that could prevent updates from installing successfully. Therefore, you may see that your Windows Update history was cleared.

I originally had trouble getting my two computers to "see" each other & don't really want MS messing with it. Also, I don't know how this would affect @Matthew who created some files to control Windows Update

Because it's not an update for the Windows system, it is an app that will be run only if the next Features Update has trouble installing (most likely due to lack of space).

This update has been reissued recently because 1803 has been added to the list of versions it applies to now that 1809 has been released.

Have you used the script files?

So did I. I might get it every month if I don't have it installed.

Sorry @Matthew Wai. When I tried that with your name before, the last name wasn't a link.

My system also had WU auto update KB4023057 on 12/06/18 at 7:58 PM EST. This is also the second version to be auto updated (11/15/18) since the v1809 initial release (pause, re-release). I'm just waiting and letting WU do the auto updates. It appears that MS made some changes to this app. (KB) for certain system combinations. Wondering if next Tuesday night will bring revelations.

KB4023057 = winupdate hijacker. It destroys some methods of anti-update/upgrade defence. Block it. Kill it. Hate it. Forever.

I have used a script file to disable hijackers, which will certainly be "repaired" by KB4023057 according to the following:

"This update may repair disabled or corrupted Windows operating system components"—quoted from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...nd-1803-for-up
