Thanks Shawn. I did download the wushowhide.diagcab from that link some time ago. I don't know why it stopped working, but I just did it again & the one I just download seems to work.

I seem to recall that if you run it & hide an update (& reboot), it will say that it's hidden, but won't remove it from Settings/Update & Security window immediately. That means that if there's a Windows update (like KB4100347) & an update to Windows Defender, you must wait until the Windows update disappears before trying to install Windows Defender update.

I just tried it with KB4100347 & a Defender update. It hid the KB4100347, & when I rebooted (twice), KB4100347 was still in the update window, but the Defender udpdate disappeared (I'm assuming it was installed).

By the way, how did you & Bree put members names in preceded by @. I didn't see an option for that.

You would just manually type @ followed by the member's name to do so.

Seems the one you tried to use had been corrupted somehow. As it happens, I have a copy I downloaded back in August 2015, but I downloaded it afresh for my tests. Comparing the two they are identical, so whatever changed just happened to your copy.

Yes, as Brink says, just type @ before a name like your phrab. When you post the board software turns it into a 'mention' and notifies the person you mentioned, like this: @phrab

It may or may not have anything to do with 1803 I am still running 1709 with updates put off using the Semi-Annual setting (to see how it all shakes out) but did get some 'cumulative' updates for 1709 in which I got a wrong update.

Just the other day (the 4th) Windows downloaded an update (can't remember the KB but it ended in 47) it was a CPU fix for Intel, having an AMD based system it was in a continuous loop of restart, then installing, then uninstalling every few hrs.
At that time wushowhide.diagcab did not show that particular KB as being listed(probably because it was already downloaded waiting on another restart) but what I did as a work around was to restore my OS to the previous day (using Macrium Reflect) ... then ran the diagcab ... then it was able to show that odd KB, hid it, and whew, out of THAT loop now.
Odd that windows would try to install an update that has nothing to do with the system, but have a feeling it has something to do with the overall snafu dealing with that October update that turned into November that I got in December.

Had an issue just the other day where Windows downloaded an update (can't remember the KB) but it was a CPU fix for Intel, having an AMD based system it was in a continuous loop of restart, then installing, then uninstalling every few hrs.
I'm also on an AMD and received KB 4100347 (Intel Microcode fix) and it installed but I had no problems, it's as if it didn't do anything at all.

I got KB 4023057 (again) last week on my 1803 so I would imagine that 1809 is about ready to roll since they start pushing 4023057 just before a new Feature.

My AMD system would not take that KB4100347 update I was asleep and kept waking up to the computer shutting down the restarting then would go look and it would be uninstalling that kept up for half a day until I finally got up to see what that was all about an restored it to the previous day.

I got four updates on the 4th and KB4023057 was one of them.

The previous KB4023057 was in October.

I got KB 4023057 on Nov 15 and today I got it again. Per MS information this KB was upgraded today (Dec 06) and looking in Program and Features it updated from ver 2.51.0.0 to ver 2.52.0.0.

This KB is to improve the Windows Update process.

Why it shows in Program and Features I do not know.
