I am now running 1803 build and updates are all up to date - so the installed KB4023057 must be a bridge to updating to 1803. edit - that does not work.

However, I am lucky that I previously updated to 1803 and made a macrium image of the new 1803 build as when going back to the 1709 build image and trying to update it will not get past this "2018-07 Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057) - Error 0x80070643" to update to 1803 !!

    KB4023057 won't go away

I saw KB4023057 when I checked for updates, so I used the Windows update show/hide tool to hide it & rebooted. However, even though the tool shows that it's hidden, when I check for updates, it still shows up. This means I can't update Windows Defender without also updating to KB4023057. Thought the tool was supposed to prevent this from happening.

Update: it took a few hours & more than one reboot to hide the update. So the show_hide tool works, but not immediately.

    I updated to 1803 a few weeks ago. I have KB4023057 v2.4.0.0 installed dated 29/07/17.

    Should I remove it?

Seems like KB4023057 is alive an well for 1709 OS here is a link from MS saying it is needed(?) for the following OS builds.
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...709-for-update

Am running 1709 and that KB4023057 update applies itself even after a fresh in-place reinstall. Did that on Aug 12th and the very first thing the 'refresh' did was that KB ...

plus it doesn't show in the installed updates but double-clicking on it takes you to the above mentioned link.

Use the Microsoft wushowhide (Windows Update Show/Hide) utility to hide that particularly item. Download it from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...ling-in-window.

Looks like that .diagcab is for 1511 & 1607 builds....running it in 1709 comes up empty...running it also says there are no updates to hide when my 'View Installed Update History' clearly shows KB4023057 installed the same day I did the 'refresh' install.
BTW I have in 'Advanced Options' my updates put off (choose when to update) for 365 days using Semi-Annual Channel

You can only hide updates that would be shown in windows update as 'available' but that are not yet installed, because it uses the same mechanism to check for updates as windows update does. It works in all versions, including 1803.

yeah like the ole windows 7 days... where it would take you to a list that you could deal with...I was under the impression this cab would help is uninstalling KB's.... but the one we're talking about (KB4023057) is shown to be installed but not listed with all the other updates in order to be uninstalled...each time I restart the desktop I get a CMD prompt window that briefly shows a remsh.exe being performed in a blue color rather than the standard black & white cmd prompt...that followed by a "How do you want to open this file?" on each restart. Weird never did that before but only after doing refresh installs of 1709 after 1803 came out.

    ShowHide.diagcab disabled in 1803?

I have Win10 Pro & just updated to 1803. When I now try to run the ShowHide.diagcab, I get this message:
    KB4023057 installed as program-image.png

I don't know why you get that. The screenshot I showed of it working in 1803 was on a machine that had a clean install of 1803 Pro and was fully updated to the latest build 17134.228. I've just checked and it also works on my test machine, that was updated from 1709 Pro to 1803 and is also fully up to date. What build do you have? Maybe @Brink can suggest something.

Edit: I've just updated a clean install of 1709 Home to 1803 using the latest install media from the MCT which is for 17134,112. Wushowhide.diagcab works in that too.
