Yes, the message says "We found a Windows 10 Home digital license for this device running Windows 10 Home. To activate using this digital license, you need to install Windows 10 Home"

    Help!

    Thanks

Hi kram106. Welcome to the the TenForums @kram106

Could you share with us how you got to this point.

Were you doing a reset, and Clean install or an upgrade ?

and why? (Dead drive, hardware upgrade, dead OS)

Here is the tutorial on Activation Trouble Shooting.

Use Activation Troubleshooter in Windows 10

    and how to activate

    Activate Windows 10

I supplied this one as there are several links to other tutorials at the bottom of it that may help.

Pretty sure a member will be able to help if you explain how you got to this point.

It looks like you need to install Windows 10 Home edition to activate Windows 10.

Which Windows 10 edition did you installed?

He does have Home installed - that strange message is something that has not been fixed since the troubleshooter was first introduced... I wish it would spit out some error codes or something meaningful.

I can't reproduce that error so can't check which events are being written etc...

OP can try running ADT and see if perhaps something in the report alludes to the cause...

Sometimes simply forcing the licence check helps -- by running the following in command:

    slmgr /ato
