Windows 10: Cancel auto update

Cancel auto update
My 81 y/o father is having an issue that his machine will not update to the latest windows 10. The machine goes through the process but then fails. How can I EASILY help him over the phone to set his system so the update not only STOPS the auto update process but also stops asking to upgrade. I saw some things about this but they are not simple. I’m looking for a simple fix as my father is not tech savvy.
Thank you!

Hi, does he have Home or Pro?
You could disable Windows updates altogether; stopping the upgrade specifically and exclusively is more difficult.
Try

(See disabled, bottom left). Free small tool.
A blunt but simple approach, provided it works. Relatively easy to try.
Longer term the underlying problem will need resolving of course.
