Excellent.... you still need data back up.
How do I do personalize the settings? I have data for programs backups at CARBONITE and additional back ups on usbs.
"100% COMPLETE. BLACK SCREEN WITH WHITE BOX UPPER LEFT LEFT CORNER WITH MESSAGE OF “personalized settings not responding. Now in my brain should be an easy fix. I do not know build I have now."
Thanks for updating us on your situation. I think interrupting an Update at start is what caused all these things but I'm assuming after 100% Complete and restart that all looks normal now ?
To see what build you're up to, hit Win+R, type winver then OK. Refer to chart in post 44. I highlighted the build you were on two weeks ago and the update, if 1607, should bring you to top build, 14393.2097. That should tell us where you stand now.
As far as the 'personalized settings not responding', it seems this is a Windows Explorer issue that happens after some Updates but if it went away and went to your normal desktop, you're good. You should not see this on next restart but if you do, here are some easy things to try- disconnect any external usb drives (may be trying to retrieve settings from your backup), Alt+ctrl+del/Sign out or Restart, or hold power button down until everything off then power up again. Running sfc /scannow in a Command prompt worked in this instance - Personalized Settings is stuck
