    I was pretty careful to follow the instructions but something seems to have gone wrong. I now have a directory windows/windows.

    After seeing the above I booted back into RE and went to CMD. When I run bootrec/scanos is where I see windows\windows

    Sorry i don't understand did you follow my instructions?

    Can you also check if Windows.old or Windows.old(1) folders contain system backup folders and there content.

    I did follow the instructions but never saw Recovery where it was located in the images in the instruction set. Nothing I am aware of that I did should have resulted in the nested folders. Is it possible this it the source of the problem?

    Windows was changed to windows.bak like the instructions showed and windows.old was renamed to Windows again as the instructions showed.

    You have copied the system files into E:\Windows folder move and replace those folders stored in root of E:\ partition.

    I just seen your post you need to copy folders inside the Windows.old folder to E:\ partition but make sure they are not empty.
