Windows 10: Windows 10 massive update?

Pyramid talks about disabling updates. Maybe disabling is different than turning off, because I've learned with Windows 10 Home, you don't have update control other than allowing when to restart.
I don't understand what kind of control you're looking for.

Windows Update service has several settings. 'Disable' is one of them. With that set, one can use one's PC merrily through the four weeks until Patch Tuesday occurs. Then one gets and stays informed about the update that is offered and available. Is it problematic for some users? Is it smooth sailing otherwise? I pick the time to do the update. It could be weeks after Patch Tuesday. I could download the update, set the Update service to Manual and install the update. Or I could set the Update service to manual and run Update. In my book, that is control.

Having upgraded to 1709 16299.125, I hesitated in doing the manual update to .192. The mitigation was already done while the PC was on 1607. Maybe the Cumulative Update that may come out in two weeks will finalize the issue.

Not sure you want to be my go to computer guru, Bree. The Feb 13 update you forecast occurred without a hitch. Only took about 1/2 hour, at most. All the others went on ad nauseam. I wander do you know when the next one will be?

The Feb 13 update was one of the regular cumulative updates. These are just security/bug fix patches, no new features are introduced. Microsoft routinely release these on 'Patch Tuesday', the second Tuesday of the month. The next one is due on Tuesday 14th March. In addition, a cumulative update may be released at any time if a significant bug or security threat is found.

Features Updates are an upgrade to the next version of Windows. The next one is likely to be called the Spring Creators Update, version 1803. It is expected to be released mid-April.
