    failed to install 0x80070643


    already had 1709, new update arrived, this one failed, what is it, Microsoft robot useless, went I clicked on uninstall it is not listed, since it failed to install I guess that makes sense, what is it, do I need it, can I uninstall the whole update

    Hi Wood.

    Thanks for the error code but you haven't supplied us with the KB number for the failing update. It would be helpful to fill in your specs, in particular what type of processor do you have and what Anti Virus are you using?

    Morning Wood.

    That KB is part of the monthly maintenance of Windows 10. You will see it fixes lots of things, things that may not be broken on your machine or that you do not use.

    Here is a link, yes lots of words but if you scroll down a little you will see a section call Known Issues and your issue is a Known Issue. Very comforting. You can now see the suggested solution... which is wait for fix.

    Anyway the first thing you should do is see that it did get installed, please press the Windows Key +R, type winver, enter.

    Please post the Version and Build number.

    So you are all up to date. That is a good thing.

    You could try The Windows Update Reset. This could clear the hiccup although they didn't list.

    Is your machine constantly downloading and retrying. If so you could also hide the update.
