I wouldn't be able to do a clean install via TeamViewer.

You don't want to convert the disk. Be sure to not add extra steps that weren't mentioned. This is throwing you off track.

Make sure that you have all other disks disconnected before doing a clean install to prevent possible issues. You can connect them back once Windows 10 has been successfully installed.

As a test, see if you are able to "Format" the unallocated Disk 0 during Windows Setup by selecting Disk 0 and clicking on Format like in my screenshot above. If successful, delete disk 0 until it shows as unallocated again, select it, and see if it will continue with the installation.

Brink, I take it you are saying that when I boot from my USB drive and then open a command prompt window, I should enter the commands diskpart, then list disk, then select disk 0, then clean, but should I then use the command create partition primary, but only do all this after the non OS disks are disconnected.

    Please advise.

After "Clean", see if you are able to start the installation when you select the unallocated Disk 0 in Windows Setup.

Brink, no I couldn't. I still get told that a partition can't be created in disk 0.

    What do I do now?

Brink, more in hope than expectation I ran the setup file for Build 17063 with Windows running but after a few restarts Windows said the installation failed "in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation".

As I said in my previous thread what can I do now?

Brink, this may be a silly idea but if I replaced my C drive with a new drive would I then be able to install Build 17063 on the new drive, and what would I have to do on the new drive before starting the installation?

It would be worth a try to see.

If you are able to, then it would be a good idea to scan the old drive with something like "SeaTools" to see if it passes or fails.

Brink, while waiting for a computer technician to put a new drive in my PC I found I couldn't access drive I, and when I looked in Computer Management I found that the drive is shown as unallocated space. I am restoring the drive from a backup image but the restoration is taking much longer than usual. The backup is running but should I use Computer Management to create a new simple volume, or will that stop the restoration?

No need to. Restoring the image should take care if it for you.

Brink,I finally managed to install Build 17063 from a DVD I created from the .iso file you gave me a link to. One apparent hitch occurred when I got to the screen asking for my location and phone number. I entered the location and my mobile number and got a text message giving a link to download my "first app". That was useless for me as my mobile is not a smartphone. However, really with nothing concrete in mind I clicked randomly around the bottom right hand side of the screen and finally a lucky click movd me on to the next screen. Why don't Microsoft place a skip button on the screen asking for location and phone number? Apart from that I had problems reinstalling 2 or 3 programs which require Net Framework 3.5 to be installed, and I couldn't find a valid link for that. Could you please give me a valid download link for it?
