Also can't opt out of Windows Insider

Also, with regard to my just previous problem, "View configured update policies" says I opted in to the Windows Insider Program (I never did), but nowhere is there a setting to opt back out. Also, in Windows Updates | Advanced Options, Pause Updates is disabled (greyed out), and there's a red message that says "Updates have been resumed..." that I think is related, too. Seems I need instructions on how to reset policies to the as-installed defaults. Wish MS would provide that. Thanks again!

Well not sure how you got opted into Insider Program unless you donwloaded and installed and Insider build which automatically put you as being on Insider build. Once on an Insider build, you can only leave if the build number cooincides with a release version. So what build are you running?

I mis-read the screen. It was citing the Windows Insider thing as an example, and it isn't on for me. But, pause updates in Settings | Windows Update | Advanced is grayed out. I'm running 16299.15 of version 1709. See my other post from yesterday about my Windows Updates policies woes. Thanks for responding so quickly. I'm a technician, so I can give any tech info/clips necessary.

All you have to do is go to the Windows insider page and opt out. After you do that remove The Hub from The apps, restart your machine and then re-install The Hub. This has worked for me many times.

You can only officially opt out if version matches release version. What do you mean by the HUB - Feedback Hub?

Yes the feedback hub. If you have a Macrium Reflect image of the current release you can opt out the way I posted as I have done it at least 3 times.

Well of course you can restore image of current official release and leave Insider.

What you cannot do is restore an image of an Insider version that does not coincide with an official release version. If anybody has an installation beyond 16299, they are stuck on Insider version until next Spring when RS4 is released unless they rollback to an offcial release version.

I never said that you can. You can restore a released build going back to 10240 if you wish to from 16299.

@bachware,

The 'some settings are managed by you organization' message on the updates page with the 'view configured update policies' beneath it appears if you a) have Pro, and b) ever clicked the policy box to 'allow updates over metered connections'. Unticking again it will not remove the 'managed...' message. This appears to be a bug in Pro 1709, Home 1709 doesn't show the 'managed...' message however many times you tick that policy box.

This is normal if you have paused updates. Once you have paused updates and then turned them back on you cannot pause them again until the PC is up to date. The latest cumulative update is for 16299.98, so looks like you're not there yet.

B) The Pause Updates settings will remain grayed out until Windows or you have finished checking for updates. (see screenshots below)
