Need to fix "Your MS account requires attention ..."

Since my recent Insider 16251 build would not update, I've been experimenting with installing backup images of older builds to see if I can update from one of those, and in the process, I've ended up in the situation where the following is displayed in RED in the Windows Insider settings page:

Your Microsoft account requires attention to get Insider Preview builds

I've done some searching on this and other folks have reported a Fix This button -- which I do not have.

So, I installed a newer build and the message remains.

Thinking something was actually wrong with my MS account, I logged into my account --but can see nothing amiss there.

I've been thinking about clean-installing build 16296, since I have an ISO of that, but I'm concerned that if I do that, I will run into more problems with the Insider Program.

So, what do I do to fix this message?

That option does not appear on my screen.

Also, when I tried to open Group Policy Edit (to disable One Drive) I got a popup saying that the app had been disabled for my protection!

So ... I have removed this installation and am in the process of restoring from a different backup image, as this one clearly has some problems.

UPDATE: OK, so I restored from build 16184 and still get the same MS Account message. So, I walked through the linked thread -- with the following results:
    1) Set up another account: There is no "Other accounts you use" under Settings --> Accounts
    2) MS Account Troubleshooter: downloaded and ran this. It complained about Sync Settings being turned off, so I clicked to turn them back on. It restarted, complained about the same problem, again. Will not get past that.
    3) Went to the MS answers link, read the trbogt reply, does not work for me.

This build ALSO shows me being in the Slow ring, not the Fast, and also does not seem to provide a way to change that. I downloaded a batch file from the Tenforums tutorial page to force Fast ring, ran it -- but viewing the Insider page still shows Slow ring.

I think the thing to do at this point is to give up on these Updates and do a clean install of build 16296 -- and I'm hoping that will fix the MS Account problem, as I can find no way to fix that.

I have to go out and will not be back until later tonight.
