The \$Windows.~BT directory and new builds

Hi

I noticed that, upgrading Windows 10 to new builds, the $Windows.~BT directory in its primary partition there more.

So, this directory is no longer created or is moved?

Sensibly, IMO, it now seems to end up in \Windows.old\$Windows.~BT

Considering the OP posted this here on the Windows Insider Forum, and mentioned new builds, I assumed the post referred to the current Insider Preview build.

To clarify, my observation in #2 referred to upgrading from 16199 to 16215 where \Windows.old\$Windows.#BT\ seems to be the new location instead of the root folder, where it was left before.

I do not find the $Windows.~BT directory in the \Windows.old directory. Why?

If I restart Windows 10 with advanced options (Shift + Restart) and then open the "Command Prompt" window, how do I view and delete this directory?

Hi,

No need to do it that way. If you want to remove the folders left behind from the previous version just run "Disk Cleanup" > " Clean Up System FIles" and select what you want removed.

Or do it manually, form Explorer's Menu Bar select "View" and check "Hidden Items" then remove the folder.

I'm trying to create a custom iso of a build and I want to delete the $Windows.~BT and Windows.old directories before I go into Audit mode.
The problem is that I can not see the $Windows.~BT directory from the "Command Prompt" window opened as shown above. Why?
