Update history tells me I'm updated to 16199 but I'm still on 16193

Any ideas on how to get my machine to actually update, It's telling me in Update History that the machine was successfully updated to build 16199 but it hasn't, it's still loading 16193.

It won't find 16199 as an update as it thinks it is already installed.

Hi Nigels. Welcome to the TenForums @Nigels

You might try the Update Trouble shooter. It is my first thing to try but recently a number of members have reported "No Joy" in its use.

Windows key + S, search bar appears, type troubleshooting into search bar, troubleshooting appears at top. Click it, window opens, lower right side "Fix problems with Windows Update", click. Window opens, click on “advance”, click on Run as administrator, click “Next”. Should run clean. If not run again.

After that I would probably try uninstall the update.

As things can head south fast I would ensure I had my data backed up and I would create an image with a tool like Macrium Reflect.

    Thanks Ken,
I got an error code eventually, which led me to the Windows 10 update trouble shooter which I had to run 3 time using a different selection each time, then when I though it had failed after the third try and 3 restarts. it gave me a message that the update database was corrupt and it had failed to fix it, then it decided it needed to restart again to install the update which was already downloaded.

    seems OK now.

    Cool.

I think it is interesting that Microsoft knew they were going to have so many issues they built all these Trouble Shooters.

I've got a thread going with similar issues, possible database corruption.

    Good luck.
