System Restore is not any kind of "time machine" that will restore your PC to the state it was at a prior date -- despite the common misperception that it IS.

It really is nothing more than an Operating System rollback function -- as all it does is overwrite the current OS files with ones that were saved when the related system restore was created.

Which is why I use imaging to save off an instance of my system, instead of relying on System Restore.
