can a repair installation be done on an insider preview?

I have had nothing but problems since IP build 15019 which have included all problems listed and posted here plus. I cannot access the Windows Store and none of my applications downloaded from the Win Store will start or work. I have tried every repair suggested to reset but the cache cant clear since the app wont start. I also cannot access Insider Hub to give feedback or receive support. I was not able to go back to a previous build that worked after build 15019 because it was suggested in a forum on the Microsoft website to reset the computer which was not the correct method as it wiped out my ability to go back to a previous build. So now I am at build 15031 and none of the problems that started in 15019 plus all of the new problems that started with every build after that have gone away or been resolved.

Is it possible to do a repair installation on my latest build 15031?

Can someone tell me if they figured out to restore system health using DISC because each time I have tried it stops just before it finishes and says it needs the ISO file which is on my computer but when I try to go to the ISO and point to it the DISC program has already stopped because of the error. I see that this is not something only happening to me so any advice will help. It seems like the best and most obvious way to repair my Windows Store and hopefully the Action Center, Feedback Hub, etc...

    Hello Danny, :)

If you have a Windows 10 build 15031 ISO file, you will still be able to do a repair install.

    Brink,

Thanks for your response. I feel I may be getting closer to getting my laptop working properly but I have a couple of questions regarding the 15031 ISO file:

    - I am able to download only up to build 15025 from the Insider website so that won't work, correct?
    - Would the build 15031 be on my laptop somewhere from when it was upgraded to that build? if so, where should I look?
    - where would i be able to obtain a 15031 build ISO for download?
    - Since this is not my main pc i don't want to reset it up using my MS account. I suppose I can't do anything about that since i am doing a repair install on a pc that was already setup using my MSA and the only way to set it up with a local account would be to do a Clean Install, correct?
-the reason I am doing this is because currently I am having major Windows Update problems where i cannot access the Windows Store, Windows Update is not installing any updates, Insider Hub doesnt work, MS Edge is not working properly, Chrome won't install anything from the Chrome store (currently Firefox is the only browser working proplerly), the Action Center is jacked, etc... so will this repair install fix these issues if they are registry errors or should i really be doing a clean install?
-if you suggest a clean install can i use the 15025 ISO that I downloaded from the Insider website?

i apologize for the barrage of questions but i just want to be certain that I don't make things any worse than they already are...

    Thanks,

    Danny

It's no problem Danny. With that many issues, it may be best to do a clean install to get the best results. You would be able to use the 15025 ISO file to create a bootable USB with and clean install from at boot. Afterwards, you'll be able to update to build 15031 once set to receive Insider builds again.

You can create insider fast ring ISOs you can't download using this tutorial.

UUP to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 Build Upgrade Files

Perhaps too late for you this time but for another time.

You can download a Windows 10 Insider build 15025 using Option Three below from Microsoft, but yeah it's not the latest 15031 build yet. :)

i downloaded the UUPtoISO compressed file on 1/28/17 but never ran it. Were you indicating that it was too late to download it or too late for it to be useful to me at this point?

    Danny

Notice please: When Windows Update has finished downloading the UUP upgrade, the files needed to make the ISO are stored in subfolders of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Downloads.

These files will be removed when upgrade is done. If you want to make an ISO for future needs, you have to do it before starting the upgrade process itself, after downloading the upgrade files but before clicking Restart now button!

i see now why it wont work this time...well i guess i am off to do a Clean Install of 15025 which I will do using the Media Creation Tool and the ISO for 15025 that I have already downloaded and then will make sure I am back on the Fast Ring (I changed to the Release Preview level a couple days ago to slow things down a bit) to ensure I get that upgrade soon and when that happens I should be able to create a bootable upgrade disc of build 15031 using the UUP to ISO method, correct?

I can't type enough words to tell you how grateful I am to have finally recieved some feedback that was just instructions. simple instructions basically verifying that what I need to do is what i have been trying to not have to do and I don't know why that was my thought process but thanks to everybody that responded especially Brink I feel like my head is firmly secure on my shoulders again and I am ready to fix this!

I will let you know the outcome of course...but only after I ask if there is any big glaring step I should be taking before the Clean Install to ensure it's success that you think I could and probably have overlooked? I will follow the tutorial...

    Thanks again,

    Danny

i do have one more final question...

I have 2 computers. my desktop is my main computer but the malware removal has been put on hold while trying to get my laptop going which I am using as a secondary computer for portability and as a media server (which now thanks to Plex Cloud will be less of a burden on it). My desktop is running Windows 7 Home Premium and is linked to my Microsoft Account and is the original computer i installed Office 365 both with the same MSA and email address. When my pc became infected I knew that trying to remove the malware then was going to be a miserable full of mistakes event so I put that on hold and somehow after almost 6 months of my laptop just sitting in its case waiting for new hard drive (i thought my hard drive died on me) i took it out started it up and when i ran SeaTools this time it showed that my drive was fine and I also found the original install disks that I thought were lost so I reinstalled Windows and after a couple of weeks of constant freezing and crashing and reinstalling Windows 10 came along on July 29th and all of the problems i was having were gone.

Here is my question...When I remove the malware on the desktop I would like to keep it linked to my MSA but now the laptop is also linked to the same MSA and email address. I would like to use a different MSA i have set up a while back for Skype in order to have a professional, family friendly Skype and a personal not so family friendly separate Skype. When I do the Clean Install on the laptop would I be able to set it up using the 2nd MSA even though Windows 10 is linked to the first MSA?

Am i making this way too convoluted?

That is it...my final plea for guidance...for today.

    Thanks,

    Danny

I'm glad we could help Danny.

If you like, you have a couple of options you could use.

If you know the product key, you could just enter it while doing a clean install to activate no matter which MSA you use.

If you don't know the product key, you could skip entering the key during Windows Setup, and use the same MSA that the license is linked to for activation. Once Windows has finished installing, you could add the other MSA you wanted to use link it to the digital license, and delete the original account from the PC.
