Hello everyone recently I have a problem that I could not get fixed, the problem is when I try to copy music files from pc to the sd card on my phone(lumia 640xl) via usb cable, when I try to copy music it just makes a sound like if where a notification but doesnt copy anything also dont show any errors, I try conecting the sd directly to the pc and Works fine, Im on the insider build 15014 fast ring.

What you did is what I do, when having USB cable problems with phones which usually have the microSDXC card I remove the card and put in the adapter then insert into the card reader on the computer. It's a bit different when trying to transfer from the built-in storage on the phone.

"via a usb cable " to the best of my knowledge it would have to be a special file/data transfer usb cable,, it cant be just a straight usb cable .like a usb charger cable,
file transfer usb cable, not sure if they even work with a phone ,USB Transfer Cables | USB Sync Cables | C2G

Its not a cable problem because before it was working fine also try another Brand new cable(data sync usb to microusb) and it does the same, doesnt copy.

    Hi there

Most phones will simply transfer data like any other external device -- note though things like SAMSUNG S5 (still IMO better than the S6) will show 2 devices - the phone itself and a Micro SD card if you've loaded one -- and also for faster transfer use USB 3 cable rather than USB 2 there's a USB 3 connector on the phone --standard USB 2 cable / charger will fit into the larger slot if you want to use USB2.

For Lumia it should work similarly - however if there's a Windows application (on the COMPUTER) for data transfer to / from the phone then use that as it will give proper indications as to whether phone is connected.

Another (although vey SLOW way) would be to use Bluetooth transfer if phone and computer have Bluetooth connectivity -- note though can be VERY SLOW.

    Cheers

sounds like it might be moving it ,just not showing its file type when you go look, try right click on the sdcards icon and check properties for file size,,make note of the size,, then send some more different music files ,and go back and right click again to compare the file size
