Cannot uninstall certain apps in 15014

This article a while back states certain previously uninstallable apps could now be uninstalled

Windows 10 makes it easier to uninstall more built-in apps with the Creators Update • PUREinfoTech

    namely to quote

Some of the apps you can now uninstall, which you weren’t able before, include:

    • Calculator
    • Groove Music
    • Mail and calendar
    • Maps
    • Movies & TV
    • OneNote
    • Voice Recorder
    • Weather
    • XBOX

but somewhere along the line (I suspect the 15000 series), the ability to do so has gone.

Of course, the article could be misleading eg it is only possible it only applied to Enterprise but not Home or Pro (I am running Pro).

Does anybody have any insight to this, or have MS really gone backwards?

    Windows 10 Pro

I didn't know we could uninstall any of those programs. The only one on the list I get the uninstall option is Weather.

Win10 Home and Pro, Win10 Insider Preview, Win7 Home, Linux Mint

I don't bother as they may come back with the next Build. Have better things to do that keep chasing that on my 2 IP computers, they are not my production machines.

I can't find the article, but I read somewhere the ability to uninstall those hardwired UWP apps now only applied to Education and Enterprise editions. Not much help, but that's all I can recall for now.

    There is an article:

Remove Pre-Installed Windows 10 Apps With PowerShell

It explains how to uninstall apps using the Get-AppXPackage in PowerShell.

I've experimented with this and it seems to work.
But I find it's not easy to identify the app from the internal package names.
Some were relatively easy and some rather obscure. When in doubt, leave it alone.
(I wonder if there may be side-effects after uninstalling some apps.)

I'd be sure to make backups before trying this.
