    Windows 10!

yeah I might stay an Insider post-launch and see what comes next.

Though I might move to the Slow Ring so I'm not the front line defense against crippling bugs

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit and VM

I am going to stay on the Insider Preview on fast ring. Will continue to use Windows 7 as my main OS with 8.1 on 2 of my systems (dual boot). I do not think that Windows 10 is ready for prime time. Too many issues. I would say June 2016 would be a good time to upgrade and get a build that will be well tested and stable. Whether or not I'll upgrade my PC's depends on what I think of 10 at the time. 3 of my PC's will be staying on 7 until EOL as they run media center with tuners. From time to time I'll put a release of 10 on some hardware but usually run the GB and US English versions 32 and 64 bit on virtual machines. There are also still unanswered questions on how retail version of 7 and 8 are going to be treated when you need to reinstal. Microsoft has said with the free update the OEM version will not activate if you change hardware. So basically if you upgrade your Hard Drive for an SSD with an OEM 7/8.1 key it will not activate and you will need to purchase a licence. So Geeks who are forever fiddling and sticking different hardware in machines with 10 upgraded from an OEM could end up being forced back to their old OEM software. See these links below for sources:

I think my answer would be "all of the above", but it's not offered . My main machine that I use for work will remain Windows 7. I see absolutely no reason to change the OS this year. My new laptop will get Windows 10, in which ever final form, basically because Acer does not support Windows 7 on that model and as a result it's hard to find proper drivers; I have refused to use Windows 8, but perhaps we (me and Acer) could agree on Windows 10. Of course, I will only install Windows 10, once Acer releases all of the drivers, so most likely not any time soon. Finally, on my test machine I will remain an Insider, just out of curiosity.

Did you try going to Task Manager, clicking the Services tab and then right click on "wauserv" and left click on Restart? Just be sure to restart it; don't stop it.

Changing Hard Drives or SSD,s do not invalidate your licence, Motherboards yes, but even this can be overcome with a phone call to M$.

Wyn...If your update shows, but there is no movement indicating it is downloading, leave it running.
Then do as you state above with one exception, you must click STOP, as your updating is already alive, all you are doing is giving it a kick start, it should immediately go back to running again without the need to click restart.
Then go back to your Updating in Services, turn off and restart, then try downloading.
