You are wrong.
It is strictly not allowed according to EULA to have two installs of the release version using same licence but in reality it works as it is not possible to have two digital licences for the same version.
However this strict EULA installation restriction does not apply to Insider versions as they are operated under a separate EULA.
Absolutely no need for a second licence.
So, what version would i install as Insider version (14965?) as dual boot with 14393.567? And, do i, when it asks for a key, leave it blank?
Yes, you will leave the product key blank when asked for it. You have two choices that I see. Both start with downloading the insider ISO from here:

You can clone your existing Windows 10 to a new partition, mount the insider ISO file and run setup.exe to upgrade the cloned Windows 10 to insider, or boot from a USB flash drive or DVD made from the insider ISO file to clean install to a new partition.
During the brief moments in time when you have the two partitions with the cloned Windows 10 RTM before the upgrade you will be violating the EULA, but I seriously doubt anyone would care.

If i clone the stable version i am running now (14393.567) to a newly created Insider Build partition, will i have any problems with installed programs that where running on main stable partition? If you see a potential for problems, perhaps i should just install fresh as clean install of 14965?
Another issue, how do i prevent both installs as showing as the "C" partition whenever i am either one? I want, obviously, the stable version to be the "C" drive & the Insider Build partition to show "D"?
Lastly, will installing 14965 after 14393.567 affect the MBR - booting into either version of Windows?

You might. That's the whole nature of insider builds and beta testing - to detect and fix bugs. But that should not affect the way they run in the stable partition.
Well, sometimes there are bugs that occur when the system is upgraded and aren't there on clean installs; but again, that is the reason for testing insider builds.
The partition you boot into will get C:. The other partitions will get assigned different drive letters, which you can adjust yourself in disk management.

So, if I clone my current RTM install to a new drive, boot from that, rejoin the Insider program, then I will be offered the latest version?
Or, do I need to update the RTM version using build 14965 first, and then see if I get the latest version?
I finally got around to doing this -- and it succeeded -- albeit with some problems along the way ...
I did the following:
1) Cloned my current Win10 RTM install to a new drive
2) Copied the latest Insider ISO (14986) to a different partition on the new drive
3) Rebooted with only the new drive connected
4) Mounted the Insider ISO file
5) Ran setup from the Insider ISO folder
6) Installation proceeded -- without problems
7) PC rebooted, now doing Windows Updates
8) Got through most of the Updates, PC rebooted -- but screen stayed black
I waited a half-hour, during which there was no screen activity and no driver light activity -- so I rebooted the PC
Got a message that it was trying to Recovery the Installation (!) -- feared the worst.
PC Rebooted again, and continued with the Windows Updates -- finally completing them.
When PC rebooted again, Insider version was installed.
So now, I'm back to using an Insider version.
