    Desktop shortcut error, build 14986

    I made an internet shortcut on my Desktop.
    (I use Chrome. It has a Chrome icon on the desktop.)
    I set the shortcut to:
    Hourly forecast :: WRAL.com .
    Shortcut does not go directly to the site.
    Instead, first comes up with a small window saying "Downloading from LTL3PV59",
    [a folder in C:\Users\<my username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\.]
    Then Chrome goes to:
    file:///C:/Users/<my username>/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/INetCache/IE/LTL3PV59/1005691[1]
    (This is the address in the address bar, after launching from the shortcut.)
    From there, Links, in the page, do not work!

    Any way to get the shortcut back to the original setting?
    Also, is this a problem with Chrome, or Windows 10?

    Using Firefox I clicked on the WRAL link to open the page, clicked the tiny icon at the left end of the URL/Address and dragged it to the desktop. Then I double-clicked the icon and it open the page in Edge [I haven't yet changed that default to IE]. It opened to show weather data. Properties of that shortcut show the URL: http://ww w.wral.com/hourly_forecast/1005691/ [had to break it to make it show, take the space out of ww w]. I've been doing it that way for several years. Edge does things, or doesn't do things, differently from what most of us volunteers are used to.

    Windows issue and noted several places on the feedback hub. My guess would be it's an issue related to Microsoft trying to force Edge as the default browser.

    MS fixed this issue in build 15025.
